So-rin-to Tower at Rin-no-ji Sanbutsu-do. This 13.2m bronze tribute to Tokugawa & Tendai buddhism was built as part of Tosho-gu Shrine in 1643 but was moved from the shinto shrine to this buddhist temple in 1875. The Tokugawa crest and some of the 24 bells at the top of the tower are visible through the purple-fringed tears of my camera's squinting CCD. |
